The Totally Worth It Show

With Bruce, Wayne, and Dick on 95.1 WVUR

February 20, 2010 Show

Author: Dick

February 21st, 2010

An exciting show as always on these Saturday nights!  Although Bruce and Wayne were a bit more tired than usual, there were still some entertaining bits of commentary.  However, Bruce got very distracted by the computer in front of him, which he was using to look at random articles on Wikipedia.  This won’t make sense until you listen to the commentary, but the word for “Pine Tree” in Latin, I’m told, is “pinus”.  Hence, we couldn’t say it on the air.  I should also note that Klaus had a slight slip-up in the German Pick of the Week commentary.  He meant to say “sitting”, but it doesn’t QUITE sound like that…  Anyway, you probably care more about the playlist than reading this block of text.

Back to our normal Totally Worth It Show, we had Bruce, Josh, Klaus, and Demitri back in the studio! The show consisted of the usual antics, as well as most of the songs picked by Dick, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Since Dick is writing this, he’s going to say that it was our best show yet! We also, once again, kicked the resident woman off the air, due to the extra people being back in the studio. But… most of you probably don’t care about these little blurbs, and really just want the show’s playlist.

Well, due to the absence of Josh, Bruce, Demitri, and Klaus… this was a fairly laid-back show.  Probably for the better, because we only had a one-hour show this week due to a preemption.  Regardless, it was a fun show and we played some good music!  Plus, we had our resident woman ON THE AIR.  She’s normally just heard in the background, laughing, but we actually gave her a microphone this time.  However, she was still a bit quiet, so you might have to listen closely to actually discern what she’s saying.  Anyway, on to the playlist!

Preempted!

February 6th, 2010

Sorry everyone, but the Totally Worth It Show is preempted this week due to a sports broadcast or some lame excuse like that.

Tune in next week for all the usual antics!  For now… listen to past shows or… do homework… or… whatever!

We might be on from 10-11 if possible, so tune in really quick to see if we’re there!

Theme for this week?  ’90s week!  I know we don’t normally have a “theme”, but it seemed like a good idea… and it was!  It was another exciting show on January 30th, full of our usual antics, and even some interaction with the DJs that are on after us!  Additionally, we had a record number of callers that we didn’t know!  Unfortunately, we did get one request for a song that we were unable to fill.  However, it was overall our best show yet.  We even introduced a new segment: Sing Along with Josh!  This will probably be coming back in the future weeks.  In case you’re wondering, I do have the audio from the sing along, but I’m not sure if I can post it or not.  I’ll probably end up posting it here in the next couple days.

Also, sorry that the first couple of commentaries are missing.  Erik forgot to press the “record” button on the magical little box that records the show, so those bits of audio are lost forever.  Tsk, tsk, Erik…  Enough of me talking, on to the list!

January 23, 2010 Show

Our first show of the new semester and new year was… very hectic, to say the least. All three of your favorite radio hosts had been running around all day, and we were very tired.  On top of that, some of our music didn’t burn right, and we weren’t accustomed to our new 9PM – 11 PM time slot.  Regardless, it was overall a pretty decent show, with all our usual antics you expect from us.

We did have Kelsey in the studio for this show (you can hear her in the background sometimes, she also muffles Bruce in the commentary track “Forgetting Microphones/Nazi Zombies”).  She was unable to make us sammiches due to her being slightly ill, but she did run to the cafe and grab us food… which we were all grateful for!  Anyway… you’re probably looking for this:

As we get closer and closer to our first show of the new year, with our new website, I feel that it’s about time I put some more text here.  First off, let me go over some things about the show.  On the right, you can see some text that says “Now Playing.”  When we are actually on the air, that will be updated live as we go from song to song.  Note that currently, you’ll have to refresh for it to update.  Also of note is the “Contact Us” page.  There’s some pretty cool stuff there.  First, you can leave us a message!  Give us your phone number, and you’ll be connected to our voicemail where you can leave a message with the chance of us playing it on the show!    We also have various methods of contacting us via IM, and a phone number specifically for our radio show!  One last note: when we’re on the air, you’ll see a little link under the currently playing song saying “Send Us a Message”.  Click that, fill out a form, and we’ll get your message instantly!

Anyway, on to notes about tonight’s show.  As you may or may not know, there is a pretty intense game of Humans vs. Zombies going on right now at Valparaiso University.  As of the writing of this post, at 4 PM, I stand as a human, while Bruce and Wayne are zombies.  If this doesn’t change… I promise it’ll be a very interesting show, provided I can get to the studio safely.  However, there is a mission that I have to complete tonight with the other humans that could zombify me.  Make sure to tune in to the Totally Worth It Show tonight to find out the fate of your favorite hosts!

Until then… wish me luck remaining human!

It is time to announce our showtime for this coming year! I received the schedule of programming for this coming semester just a manner of hours ago, and we are scheduled for: Saturday nights at 9 PM to 11 PM! This later time slot should mean less preemptions than last semester, and more time for us to bring you all more quirky and awkward commentary, with more good music. I hope you enjoy this semester as much as we will!

Reminder from Dick: Our first show is on Saturday, January 23 at 9 PM!

December 12, 2009 Show

January 10th, 2010

Our last show of the Fall 2009 semester was great… slip-ups and all.  We had Kelsey joining us in the studio for this show, but she stayed off the air.  Perhaps we’ll have to have her actually exist sometime.  If you listen carefully, you can hear her laughing in the background of some of the clips.  She promises to make us sammiches the next time we bring her in the studio, so she’s definitely returning.  Sammich recipes, anyone?
